Meet Zheila Pouraghabagher
A seasoned professional development and operations executive, Zheila brings a wealth of business experience to Collaboration’s team. She knows how to communicate to a variety of different demographics — from coaching college students in life skills to teaching dance to two year olds to working closely with high-growth small business clients. Zheila embodies the spirit of a true collaborative leader and educator with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, including C-level, in small, medium and large organizations.
Like many of Collaboration’s clients, Zheila is also a small business owner. She is uniquely positioned to offer experience-based advice to her clients, as she’s seen it all. Her experiences in human resources, operations, training and development and management provide a solid base from which to draw upon. She aims to provide advice and strategy development rooted in her “been there, done that” point of view. In addition, her experience with a high-growth, venture capital funded, private company demonstrates her strength in working in a fast-paced environment and allows her clients to benefit from her knowledge of transitioning a small company into a medium-sized one.
Fiercely committed to the success of her clients, Zheila is proud to help them achieve their goals so that they, in turn, can go out and reach even more people. As her clients cycle through their business’ growth, Zheila is prepared to take on the challenge and empathize with her clients’ growing pains.
5 Questions For Zheila
What is your proudest client success and why?
My proudest moment was when I challenged myself to dig deeper than ever before with a client who struggled to effectively lead a team. My questions to this client led us down an uncovered path, where we realized the basis of the core issue she was having. I realized that if I hadn’t paid attention and dug deeper, we wouldn’t have reached the actual pain point. I’m the most proud of these kinds of moments, where both the client and I are learning and overcoming challenges along the way. Everyone has the capability to reach a turning point in their career and personal life, no matter how long they have been in the business. Once we work together to identify what is not working with your style, we can fix it.
What is your most impactful Collaboration accomplishment?
Before coming to Collaboration as a full-time employee, I worked with the company as a contractor for five years. During that time, I fine-tuned the leadership development program to simplify it down to its essentials. I also led the “Train the Trainer Program” for WorkTraits, allowing HR staff to manage WorkTraits independently within their organization.
What is one thing people don’t commonly know about you?
Surprisingly, I am really shy in group settings. Yet, when I’m facilitating a training, I am confident and strong. One of my greatest strengths is being able to work through my shyness to participate more in group settings where I am a participant rather than the leader.
What is something personal we should know?
I am a small business owner and dancer. I am the co-owner and Director of CORE Dance Company. We provide dance education for everyone from ages two years to adults. Dance is a huge part of my life and I enjoy bringing the art to the San Luis Obispo community. But above all, I enjoy spending quality time with my son, Jovan, and husband, Ryan.
What is something you are looking forward to in the future?
I am so motivated by challenging goals. I’m most looking forward to achieving the goals the team at Collaboration put together as a part of our five-year plan. I also love working with the intrinsically motivated team at Collaboration; you don’t find this kind of team in many places and I’m so excited to be a part of it to broaden my reach and my ability to work with more people in the community.
