The restaurant business is notorious for its extreme competition. Local restaurateur Shanny Covey, owner of Robin’s in Cambria and co-owner of Luna Red in San Luis Obispo, had to learn how to lead her staff at multiple restaurants and build out a five-year strategy encompassing the common and individual goals of each business. Shanny felt that she lacked confidence to lead her team and build her restaurants, especially as she saw her business rapidly growing.
She sought out Collaboration to help her determine which tools she needed to gain confidence while, importantly, maintaining the quality of work at her restaurants. “I needed a clearer vision of what we were doing with the three restaurants. Collaboration really helped us hone in on that five-year vision to make some strategic plans for our business,” she said.
Collaboration worked with Shanny and her team to develop their leadership abilities, particularly across different management teams at each restaurant. Shanny is excited that by reaching the status of a collaborative leader, her team is able to be more effective and achieve results. She says: “I feel like I have many tools in my tool belt now and I can whip them out when I need them!”
